When Probinsyana Meets The City
When you wake up in the middle of a Sunday night (say 12:30AM, so technically it's Monday morning already. Lol) after a whole day of having fun with your friends, what do you do? A. Go back to sleep B. Browse the web C. Read a book D. Attend to a friend's invitation for a late night Sunday hurrah
Well... for my Sunday night, I've chosen the latter. *winks* (Talk about spontaneity)
I was never a fan of loud crowded places but what the heck, I was at B-Side! The place reminded me of my reporter days. We were sent there to cover an event and interview some artists for the company's big event on December 2012, Rock Loqal. It was my first time to cover an event late night without the whole production crew! Usually there's Tatay Edil (who is our all around main man, our masipag driver, our logistic guy, and our loving tatay in the team,) Edz (the production head/ Editor,) the ninjas (we call the production team Ninjas, and the reporters Samurais, i'm kind of lucky to be a trained mixed of both,) and our boss (sometimes he comes to shoots too, because he's cool and hands on like that! You rock sir Leo!) Oh how I miss this people!
Okay going back... so B-Side happened. I was sent along with the 2 ninjas in our team, Tristan and Errol (my batchmates who are always fond of bullying me,) to cover a late night event, and after 2 years! I was back at this place. Nostalgia! But when you drag a probinsyana in a place like this without any work-related purposes, it's plain blank. Haha!
So here are some of the few things a probinsyana would do/would be doing/have done/ and will do when she meets the city.
1. She'll crave for experience. She wants to know how a city life looks like. She'll gonna be wanting to experience it herself. She observes. She laughs at the woes of life because she knows it's part of it.
2. She'll be wanting to meet people. Different kind of people. Foreigners, city girls and boys, random people, taxi drivers, sidewalk vendors, and she'll be happy making a conversation with them because she wants to hear their stories. She wants to know how their life is like living in a city where danger is an "eye bullet."
3. She'll make friends. She will be loving the company of different people. She will be happy listening and making memories with them. She'll love making those connections because living away from her family and living alone in the city without anyone who she can connect with will drive her insane.
4. She'll value those memories because she believes that those people, stangers that turn into friends, are worth it.
5. She will always find a good side on everything bad. She will always see the reasons why they do what they do. She will try to understand everything that's happening and have happened. She'll try to be rational. She'll try not to judge because maybe that's how the city is like. You meet strangers in a place where everything is foreign, you try to adapt and you try to understand because in that way you'll only be able to survive the city life.
6. She will be then trying to make something out of herself because she will always be wanting to prove herself that she can make it, that the choices she had made- to live in a city and work away from her family is worth it.
7. She'll be wanting to travel. Travel more. Because she believes that by travelling she'll meet more people, make more memories, immerse in different culture, tastes different delicacies and most importantly learn.
8. She'll always be innocent on love because she grew up in a family with a strong bond of love. She believes that if a person loves, s/he will never give up,through ups and downs. Because she grew in a family who believes the same. She grew in a family who were blessed with happiness. She grew in a family bonded through Christ.
9. She's going to cut her hair when she gets hurt. And cut it even shorter, the shortest way possible it could be cut because she wants to move on from the pain and make new memories. Happy memories. But she will always be thankful for those pains and struggles because it molded her to be who she is right now. A stronger and braver person. A person who never gives up and keeps growing and be more eager on learnings. But this time, she knows better.
10. She will always cling on the past and never forgets because that made her happy at some point. She will always smile through those memories she have made with people who hurt her because that gave her the greatest learnings in life. She will always be thankful because it strengthened her faith, her hopes and her heart.
And...
11. She'll always be wearing a pair of slipper in a bar, ordering a bottle of water, sitting at the corner and observing. Wondering where do those people dancing on the dance floor are from. She'll be asking the same question she asks herself in that wee hour... "Why are they here? Why am I here?" And maybe they will have the same answer... they want to experience life. They want to enjoy life. They want to live it to the fullest. They love. :)
