Love, Treasure and Happiness in its Simplest Form (Part 2)
The True Meaning of Happiness
I always value the kind of love that my parents raised us with. My brother and sister have grown into a very strong individual because of that. They have always carried the values that my parents thought us while growing up. We were raised into the kind of love that will move mountains in order for the family to stay unbroken. I wish, hope and pray that when the time comes when we build the family of our own, we’ll carry over this kind of values, morals and love we're raised into.
I have always been thankful to God for my parents. If God will give me another chance to choose my parents before conception, (Hey Channing Tatum would be a cool dad, Ellen DeGeneres would be a rock star mom and I know their combination sounds silly and absolutely weird but I think it will work. LOL) I would still choose them. I would still choose them over anyone for they are perfect in their own ways. I would risk the uncertainty without knowing what the consequences of my choice will bring to my future life.
But looking back, I think that that unborn kid who was given an option has made a great choice. Where would you see a father who acts like in his early 20s to level up with his first daughter's enthusiasm? :) Plays almost all kind of sports and joins his kids cultivating it with them? Dances around the living room while his family is enjoying watching their favorite TV show? Smiles even though he knows that his teeth is lacking of count? Makes faces in front of the camera and asks to post it on Facebook in his behalf? Hi papa, you’re more than cool, you have outdone Channing Tatum! LOL You are our Superman because I know that you will do everything possible to provide and make us happy. :)
My mom? Oh myyyy my mother?!!! You would be jealous of us having a mom like her! She’s the most generous and fierce mother that ever lived on earth!!! She would give us the last piece of bread that is intended for her if we ask. She gives us more than that actually. She will ask my dad to give us the bread that is intended for him too! HAHA! She is loving in her own ways. She is the strongest woman I’ve ever met because she will fight for us no matter what.
I remember one time when we were in a bus going home to Ilocos from Isabela, there was this weird looking old man who keeps staring at me (looks like a maniac I swear!) She was gauging the man and the surroundings to see how she will act on it. When the old man didn’t stop after a few while, my mother asked me to cover my face with the sarong we were supposed to use as blankets. After that, she then courageously confronted the old man…
“Bakit mo siya tinititigan?! Anak ko yan! Gusto mo saksakin kita?” (Not quite sure about the last line but I saw her pull out and held a Swiss knife after that confrontation. HAHAHA! My mother has tendencies eh? I know! HAHA! But hey, we all know that a mother will do anything and everything she could to protect her child and her family, even if it cost her her life. Sometimes it amazes me what a mother love could do. :)
I would do the same to my future kids you know, but maybe in a more subtle way than what my mother did… or maybe not? Maybe I’d be scarier… LOL
Now I ask myself, what makes me happy? My family makes me happy. The love they give me makes me happy and this kind of love will be shared and carried on to the people who touched my life. To the few friends, best friends, the people I consider family, and to my future family, Salud! :)
I owe my parents for who I am and what I have become now.
